New York's Village Community Boathouse offers free rowing trips on the Hudson each Tuesday at 5.30pm. Jump about one of their homemade 25-foot Whitehall gigs and grab an oar to get a unique view of the city. Sign the waiver on the website, then show up at the boathouse at Pier 40 in Hudson River Park, West Houston Street.
